The Centennial Speaker Series presents a moderated conversation with Ambassador Giampiero Massolo, president of Fincantieri S.P.A and president of the Italian Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI). This event is co-sponsored by the Gabelli Center for Global Security Analysis, the CFA Society of New York, and the Museum of American Finance. Massolo will look to address the questions: is COVID-19 a geopolitical game-changer? Is the pandemic a turning point in global power politics?

About Ambassador Giampiero Massolo

Giampiero Massolo is president of Fincantieri S.P.A and president of the Italian Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI). A career diplomat, Ambassador Massolo was the coordinator of the Italian intelligence community from 2012 to 2016, the Prime Minister’s personal representative, Sherpa, for the G-8 and G-20 Summits in 2008 to 2009, and the secretary general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2007-2012. He is an adjunct professor of national security and international relations studies both at the School of Government of the LUISS University in Rome and at Sciences Po’s Paris School of International Affairs. He regularly contributes on international and security matters to the newspaper La Stampa.

About Andrea Mennillo

Andrea holds a B.S. in business from Federico II University in Naples and a B.S. in international banking from University of Lecce. He also is an alumnus of INSEAD Graduate School. He has almost 30 years of leadership experience, mostly in financial institutions and infrastructure funds worldwide.

He has acted as chairman, managing director, and board member in banks, insurance companies, and financial conglomerates in Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Portugal, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. After Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, where he was appointed by the Ministry of Finance of Italy, he founded IDA Capital, an investment firm that operates in the fastest-growing countries and focuses on business diplomacy.

Andrea is the parent of Francesco Mennillo, GSB ’16, and past chair of International Parents Leadership Council. He is a member of Gabelli School of Business Advisory Board, chair of the Globalization Council, chairman of Fordham Advisory Board, London, and winner of the Gabelli School of Business 2018 International Awareness Award.
