Under the leadership of Professor RP Raghupathi, the center will investigate how mobile devices such as cell phones and tablets can improve the ways doctors and hospitals care for patients. The possibilities are vast: e-prescriptions for medicines, mobile monitoring of vital signs, and text-messaged reminders about healthcare service scheduling and follow-up, to name only a tiny few.
The CDT will explore a proposed system of mobile healthcare delivery called MHealth with the Verizon Foundation’s support. The money will help Professor Raghupathi and his team to lay the groundwork, run pilot studies, work with local healthcare organizations to implement solutions that show promise, and figure out how to spread successful initiatives to other locations.
This is the latest instance of the corporate world taking notice of what the CDT is doing. Professor Raghupathi has won funding in the past from IBM to support research projects and allow the development of new courses.
On behalf of the Fordham Schools of Business administration and faculty, congratulations!
