A graduate of Loyola University of Chicago, Mr. McIntyre became Commissioner Stern’s advisor in August 2010. He has worked for the NBA in various roles since 1981, when he moved over from his position as director of marketing and media information for the Chicago Bulls.

Beginning his league career as director of public relations, Mr. McIntyre rose through the NBA’s communications structure and has overseen PR activities for every major NBA event from 1982 through 2010, including the finals, the All-Star game, the draft and draft lottery, and the McDonald’s Championship.

Mr. McIntyre was involved in the launch of both the WNBA and the NBA Development League. He gained visibility for the NBA through the development of awards programs, such as the Defensive Player of the Year award, the Sixth Man Award and Most Improved Player. He was responsible for initiating White House visits by NBA Championship teams, creating a media-training program for players, and instituting the use of satellite post-game feeds at major NBA events.

In conjunction with USA Basketball, Mr. McIntyre has been actively involved in public-relations planning and on-site execution for the Olympic Games in 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004 and 2008, and for the World Championship of Basketball in 1994, 2002 and 2006. He also has served as a member of the FIBA (International Basketball Federation) News Council and on the USA Basketball Media Advisory Committee.
