Here is a little more about both of this dinner’s hosts:

A senior audit partner at Deloitte with more than 34 years of public accounting experience, Ed Morrissey provides audit, merger and acquisition, SEC reporting and specialized services to a variety of global insurance and non-insurance clients. In addition to his client service roles, Mr. Morrissey served as the office managing partner for the financial services industry audit practice of Deloitte & Touche LLP’s New York office from 2005 to 2012.

Mr. Morrissey has spent the majority of his career focusing on the issues faced by the insurance, asset management and real estate industries. He has a distinguished record of serving several of Deloitte’s largest and most complex global clients, either as the lead audit partner or as the concurring (second partner technical review) partner. He also has been engaged to assist various state insurance departments over the years and has served as managing partner of Deloitte’s tri-state insurance practice.

Mr. Morrissey was a member of the Insurance Companies Committee of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and served as chairman of the Accounting Standards Executive Committee’s Task Force on Accounting for Demutualization. As chairman, he worked closely with members of the FASB staff and the SEC in developing and finalizing the new GAAP accounting guidance.

Mr. Morrissey began his career with Deloitte in 1979 after graduating from the Gabelli School of Business with a BS in accounting; he earned an MBA in 1986 from New York University’s Stern School of Business.

John Malvisi, a senior partner in Deloitte’s northeast audit practice, plans and supervises engagements for large publicly traded global businesses. His 27-year career at Deloitte has been spent in the media and entertainment, manufacturing and consumer products industries. Mr. Malvisi also spent several years in the merger and acquisition services group. His extensive audit experience and M&A background has given him a unique understanding of, and sensitivity to, the specific complexities of major public clients both in the United States and abroad.

Mr. Malvisi became the lead client service partner for NBCUniversal Media LLC, one of the world’s leading media and entertainment companies with revenues of approximately $20 billion, after the acquisition of a controlling interest by Comcast Corporation. In 2005, he became the lead audit partner for Cendant Corporation, a multinational corporation with approximately $18 billion in revenues and one of Deloitte’s 25 largest clients. In 2006, he became the lead client service partner for Cendant and completed his five-year rotation as the lead client service partner for Avis Budget Group, formerly known as Cendant Corporation.

While in the M&A services group, Mr. Malvisi performed due-diligence activities and analyzed mergers and acquisitions for both private equity and strategic acquirers. His former M&A clients include ADP, Barr Laboratories, Clarion Capital Partners, General Motors Corporation, Monsanto Company, Red Diamond Capital and RR Donnelley. Mr. Malvisi’s nine years in Deloitte’s M&A practice provided him with extensive experience in key industries such as consumer business, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and various distribution and services sectors. He also led the M&A accounting consultation network as the national M&A professional practice director for accounting consultations. Mr. Malvisi has worked in Deloitte’s national office accounting research group in Wilton, Connecticut, where his responsibilities included consultation on a wide range of accounting and financial reporting issues.

Mr. Malvisi received an MBA in public accounting from Fordham’s Graduate School of Business Administration. Since 2005, he has been a member of Fordham’s President’s Council.
